GE Gas Turbine Maintenance Technician Apprentice Program What does the Apprentice Program prepare you for? Apprentices are given the necessary training in machine systems including conventional electronics, discreet control systems, CNC equipment, PLC’s, direct current drives, servo systems, numerical control technologies, hydraulics, and pneumatics to prepare themselves for an in-demand, skilled craft. Apprentices will be enrolled in classes with the other participants in the apprentice program. Throughout the course of the program, apprentices will complete courses determined by GE that will fulfill the requirements for the Associate's in Applied Science– General Technology. What is the duration of the program? The program lasts five years. Apprentices will have five semesters of academic training and a minimum of 7000 hours of on-the-job training. Will I be paid while I am in the apprentice program? Apprentices are paid for academic and on-the-job training. In addition, GE covers the cost of tuition, books, and other fees while enrolled in the apprentice program unless other financial aid resources are applied. Am I guaranteed to be offered a full-time job at the end of the program? The availability of the Maintenance Technician positions may vary based on the business conditions and need. Eligibility for available full-time positions is contingent upon the completion of the program in good academic standing, performance evaluations, and passing job qualification tests.
