This position is a temporary 4 month contract with possibility of extension. Wages start at $40 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Job Description: Reporting to the QA Manager, the Quality Control Inspector will provide inspection, surveillance and record keeping services related to construction. Also including, repair of structural and pressure equipment welding, primarily at the shop however, site inspections may be required as per project scope. • • • • • • • • • Perform visual and dimensional inspections as required by client and Code requirements Oversee and witness hydro tests Inspect material purchases, review MTRs against ASME Codes and release material for fabrication Non-conformance management – initiating, tracking, resolution and closure Development, scoping, and cost estimation associated with Inspection and Test Plans Develop turnover documentation including record keeping, sign off and client and approval Maintain welder records Coordinate NDE contractors Field assignments, as required Job Requirements: • • • • • • 3 – 5 years’ experience related to the shop and/or field inspection of welded steel structures, preferably stainless steel welding. Pressure equipment or pipeline inspection experience is optional. CSA W178.2-2001 Level 1 welding inspector certification with W47.1 and W59. Ability to communicate effectively with foreman, shop, engineering/design and third party QC personnel Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under appropriate guidance and able to prioritize multiple tasks. Working knowledge of CSA W47.1, W59, AWS D1.6, and basic quality systems. Knowledge of ABSA requirements, ASME, CSA-Z662, and CSA- A660 codes of construction would be an asset.
