Checking the version of Photoshop that you are using
First, to determine whether or not you are using 32 or 64 bit Photoshop, perform these steps:
1. From Photoshop, click the Help menu and choose About Photoshop, as in:
2. Take note of the version number. 64-bit will display x64. 32-bit will display x32:
64-bit Photoshop
32-bit Photoshop
3. If your Photoshop is 64-bit, you can only use Method 1 below. If it is 32-bit, you can use either
method.
Method 1: WIA
64-bit or 32-bit
1. Plug the USB cable from the scanner into either the USB extension cable on the PC or
directly in to a USB port on the PC itself.
2. Wait about 15 to 30 seconds while the scanner is detected on the PC.
3. From Photoshop, choose File Import WIA Support…
4. On the WIA Support screen, it is highly recommended that you change the destination
folder from the \\aacc-shd\homedirs\... to another location like the Desktop. The
\\aacc-shd\homedirs\... is the student’s network drive and is small in size. The resultant
files, if they are needed, can be copied over from the Desktop to the student’s flash
drive once this process is complete. (Steps continued on next page.)

Method 2: Twain

NOTE: This is the same procedure as before with Photoshop CS4.
1. Plug the USB cable from the scanner into either the USB extension cable on the PC or
directly in to a USB port on the PC itself.
2. Wait about 15 to 30 seconds while the scanner is detected on the PC.

Photoshop.
