Tested glulam beams GLT® | HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER 7 04 TESTED GLULAM ® BEAMS GLT THREE CHEERS FOR SAFETY. ADVANTAGES Safety in the finger-jointing Safety in the grading To be designed and dimensioned like glue laminated timber Up to 20% material savings compared to conventional finger jointed structural timber Up to 15% cost savings compared to glue laminated timber SAFETY IN TRIPLICATE The safest bet is fully tested! Every GLT® (tested glulam beam) and its finger joints are exhaustively tested under extreme conditions. SAFETY STEP 1: QUALITY GRADING Specially selected and certified sawn timbers are produced in our own saw mill, technically dried and pre-graded by our specialists SAFETY STEP 2: HIGH-TECH STRENGTH GRADING Strength-related deficiencies in the timber are detected and rigorously eliminated using state-of-the-art X-ray and laser technology. SAFETY STEP 3: PATENTED TENSILE TEST The strength of load-bearing components is usually only monitored on a random basis not so with GLT®. After finger jointing, every GLT® is subjected to the patented tensile test according to Austrian Standard B 4125 and its quality is therefore completely assured. SEQUENCE OF TENSILE TEST PROCEDURE ACCORDING TO AUSTRIAN STANDARD B 4125 Entry 8 Centering Clamping HASSLACHER NORICA TIMBER | Tested glulam beams GLT® Tensile testing Exit ONLY THE BEST WITHSTAND THE TEST. Tested finger-jointed structural timber beams are individually tested for strength using a patented tensile testing facility. Strength-reducing growth-related features or defects in the finger joint are eliminated at the same time. 05 QUALITY DESCRIPTION PARAMETER VISIBLE INDUSTRIAL Description For load-bearing and non-load-bearing components in the visible area, such as visible rafters, visible beams, etc. For load-bearing and non-lead-bearing components in the non-visible area, e.g. lightweight timber construction, covered rafters and purlins Type of wood Spruce Spruce (fir permissible) or pine Mistletoe attack not permissible not permissible Moisture content maximum 18% maximum 18% Saw cut pattern heartwood-separated heartwood-separated Ingrown bark not permissible to be treated like knots Pitch pockets up to 5 mm wide, no clusters permissible Surface cleanly planed and chamfered on all sides planed and chamfered on all sides, rough areas are permissible Dimensional accuracy dimensional tolerance class 2 of EN 336 is applicable undersizes up to -2 mm may occur with exposed and standard.
