THREE CHEERS FOR SAFETY.
ADVANTAGES
Safety in the finger-jointing
Safety in the grading
To be designed and dimensioned
like glue laminated timber
Up to 20% material savings
compared to conventional
finger jointed structural timber
Up to 15% cost savings compared
to glue laminated timber
SAFETY IN TRIPLICATE
The safest bet is fully tested!
Every GLT® (tested glulam beam) and
its finger joints are exhaustively tested
under extreme conditions.
SAFETY STEP 1:
QUALITY GRADING
Specially selected and certified sawn timbers
are produced in our own saw mill, technically
dried and pre-graded by our specialists
SAFETY STEP 2:
HIGH-TECH STRENGTH GRADING
Strength-related deficiencies in the timber
are detected and rigorously eliminated using
state-of-the-art X-ray and laser technology.
SAFETY STEP 3:
PATENTED TENSILE TEST
The strength of load-bearing components is
usually only monitored on a random basis not so with GLT®. After finger jointing, every
GLT® is subjected to the patented tensile test
according to Austrian Standard B 4125 and its
quality is therefore completely assured.

Tested finger-jointed structural timber
beams are individually tested for strength
using a patented tensile testing facility.
Strength-reducing growth-related features
or defects in the finger joint are eliminated
at the same time.

1) In GLT ® tested glulam beams, the values for bending strength, tensile strength and compressive strength can be multiplied by the factor k pl according to ETA-13/0644.
2) The shear strength must be multiplied by the factor k cr (crack factor).

FINGER JOINTED
STRUCTURAL TIMBER
is impressive due to the naturalness of its
surface, even in exposed areas. The tensiletested variant GLT® - tested glulam beams makes
building with finger jointed structural
timber safer and more efficient because GLT®
may be dimensioned like glue laminated timber.
