How to prepare and submit data to ECHA
Since 1 June 2008, following REACH entry into operation,
companies have been required to submit information to the
European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
This leaflet provides an overview on the data submission
processes for late pre-registrations, PPORD notifications,
inquiries and registrations.
The REACH-IT portal on the ECHA
website is the only channel for
companies to submit data to ECHA.
REACH-IT is used for:
•
Company sign up (Account creation)
•
Late preregistrations for potential
registrants who manufacture or import
for the first time a phase-in substance
in quantities of one tonne or more per
year after 1 December 2008
•

REACH-IT Section
The web pages in the REACH-IT section are a
single point of access to information on how to
prepare and submit information to ECHA.
They cover PPORD notifications, inquiries and
registrations. In addition, information is
provided on how to claim a registration number
for previously notified substances under Dir.
67/548/EEC.
The section has a dedicated page for each of
the features described below.
Registration
A registration must be prepared by creating a
dossier in IUCLID 5 and submitting it via
REACH-IT.
Before submitting a registration, a company
should either have pre-registered the
substance, or submit an inquiry.
When a substance is manufactured or
imported by more than one company, these
companies have the duty to submit jointly
certain information. For the joint submission of
a registration dossier, please consider the
specific submission requirements for the Lead
Registrant and the members, outlined on the
REACH-IT webpages.
Company Sign-up/Account Creation
Company sign-up is a compulsory step
companies have to complete before they can
submit data to ECHA. During this step an
account is created in REACH-IT so that ECHA
can always link submitted data to the right
company.
Late pre-registration
Information for late pre-registration for a single
substance can be entered and submitted
online via the REACH-IT portal. This feature is
only available for potential registrants who
manufacture or import for the first time a
phase-in substance in quantities of one tonne
or more per year after 1 December 2008.
