Agency overview
Transport for NSW is the centrepiece of a reshaped transport cluster. It is responsible for setting the strategic
direction and guiding an extended network of public and private service delivery agencies to deliver improved
transport outcomes.
Primary purpose of the role
The primary purpose of the role is to support the management of the systems engineering and safety
assurance function and a team of engineering specialists to ensure the Rail Service Delivery Office (RSDO)
program and associated projects meet TfNSW standards and specifications and all legislative requirements
through the design, delivery and lifecycle of the project. Support the implementation of assurance, audit tools
and systems processes to monitor and report on project design and performance of projects including the
implementation of regular assurance plans.

organisation and customers.
Assist in the management of system engineering and assurance activities including use of and
adherence to Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP), RAMS (Reliability, Accessibility,
Maintainability and Safety) and BRS (Business Requirement Specifications) to ensure program and
project compliance with engineering standards, specifications and legislative requirements, and to
identify issues requiring resolution which may impact on an individual project or integration with the
broader transport system in NSW.

Contribute to the effective use of RSDO and TfNSW engineering standards, design control,
configuration guidelines and reporting guidelines to meet business and legislative requirements and to
support communication, coordination and integration between program and project design and delivery
teams
Provide expert and authoritative advice in relation to the impacts across projects and on the integration
of projects with the existing transport system as a result of the ongoing design development.
Provide expert advice on key governance and planning and design matters and advise, liaise and
negotiate with stakeholders to lead the effective analysis and resolution of issues.
Prepare and review briefs, technical specifications and specialist technical input to ensure adherence to
project outcomes and performance requirements and to provide authoritative engineering advice to
resolve integration issues where identified.
Monitor safety assurance activities through project development and ensure that safety validation is
undertaken for changes to designs or structures that may impact safety performance. Review design
risks and opportunities in accordance with the TfNSW Risk Management System
Work in close collaboration across the RSDO team, and operating entities to contribute to decision
making and the effective operation of governance mechanisms.
