Instrumentation Cable with Collective Screen and Steel Wire Armor according to BS 5308 Part 1
Type 2
APPLICATION
They are used as instrument and control cables in and around process plants. They are
suitable for indoor and outdoor installation, as well as for direct burial. They can be used
for applications which require increased mechanical strength or rodent protection and
installations with fire or explosion hazard.
CABLE MAKE-UP
• Conductors: Solid (Class 1), stranded (Class 2) or flexible (Class 5) bare copper
conductors to BS 6360.
• Insulation: Polyethylene insulation type 03 to BS 6234.
• Cores twisted in pairs or triples, minimum 20 twists per meter.
• Core Identification: See color code Table 2 on page 190.
• Screen: Plastic bonded aluminium foil with tinned stranded copper drain wire (7x0.3
mm), approx. 25% overlap.
• Inner sheath of polyethylene type 03 to BS 6234.
• Armor: Galvanized steel wire armor to BS 1442.
• Outer Sheath: PVC outer sheath type TM.1 to BS 7655, color black or blue. It
displays the following characteristics:
Flame retardant to IEC 332.3
Minimum oxygen index: 30%
Maximum HCl emission at 800 oC: 15%.
• Temperature Range: -30 oC to 70 oC.
• Minimum Bending Radius: 7.5 x cable diameter (static).
• Electrical Properties: See Table 3. (page 191)
