C. New Business
a. Discussion on Internal Affairs meeting –
Wegscheid: It went well overall in spite of the rift.
Haffield: Are there any motions being presented at March 7th?
Wegscheid: There are a lot of items leftover from this last one so we will be voting on them.
(proxy option, board composition, officers position descriptions, on-campus organizer position,
conferences and purpose, code of conduct, etc.). If any interest in going, please let me know.
Jacobson: If people are interested in bringing things forth on policy, by-laws, etc.), please let
either one of us know.
Farah: Do you feel it is too late coming into this?
Jacobson: I think adding fresh faces of those who haven’t been involved would be good.
Conlon: Are you looking to senate for a motion?
Haffield: Looking for recommendations on items #2, 3 & 6.
Conlon: I’d suggest you bring content suggestions. And also send it out prior to next meeting.
Farah: As to #5, what are or have we been doing?
Haffield: We’ve been talking to people about it, article in the Reporter and other media, it’s
been brought up at RHA, etc.
b. Discussion on MSUSA Board mediation/recommendations
Jacobson: I feel it important to be at the upcoming elections in spring and also participate with
the Board of Trustee recommendation. Those two things are huge and think that we come back
to the table at least for that.
Wegscheid: I agree but think some things need to happen before we go back (situation with
John Walker/Willy Johnson). We have to decide as a senate.
Haffield: We need a timeline, a recommendations list for meeting on March 7th. Also, need
senate’s okay that I’m allowed to give blessing at BOD meetings on items like MSU’s
Indigenous Day, April elections, BOT recommendations; interactions among the board, finding
out harasser, get an apology letter from harasser.
PJ: Is the Board of Trustees aware of the latest situation?
Haffield: Yes, they are all aware as Elise has shared. They’re well aware but want us to figure it
out.
Farah: How sincere do you feel the one resignation was and what others have said?
Haffield: I’m happy as it was right thing to do. I feel they were sincere.
Jacobson: I feel there are more key players that should’ve stepped down.
Haffield: I feel we need to support their decisions, otherwise, support the idea of proxies. I
don’t think we can lump everyone in the same boat.
Farah: Do you really know who harasser actually is?
Haffield: We talked about that and were assured that they weren’t the harassers and were
surprised by everything recently that has happened. They all are also trying to find out more
about this so we can be certain.
Jacobson: I think the organization needs to do further investigation into this and not us.
Haffield: I invite all of your ideas.
Farah: Can you make a draft of what you’ll be bringing up?
Haffield: Absolutely.
PJ: Do we know yet what MSSUO stands for?
Haffield: It is a fake lobby group made to look like it represents MSU & SCSU and that all
comments are coming from us.
Wegscheid: We still need to make a decision but if interested in April Delegates, please let me
know.
