Fantasy/Science Fiction Short Story
OBJECTIVE: Students will respond creatively to a news item by narrating a fantasy or
science fiction story with a theme reflecting modern times.
INSTRUCTIONS: In 1000 words develop a narrative set in a science fiction or fantasy
setting. Choose a title that suggests your theme. Create character names. Use dialog
instead of exposition. Show rather than tell.
