Great Schools Partnership Job Description JOB TITLE: Healthy Communities Project Manager SUMMARY In partnership with the Knoxville-Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC), the Great Schools Partnership (GSP) is seeking an energetic, creative and results-oriented professional with experience facilitating connections in communities to support the goal of healthy communities with schools at the center. Based on the premise that school success and community success are interdependent, this position is responsible for fostering community-based participation to generate a common site-specific vision and related place-based strategies to create positive and productive relationships between community schools and neighborhoods. This unique position will be hired by the Great Schools Partnership managed and housed at the MPC. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Build capacity for community-led place-based initiatives within the GSP, MPC and partner organizations, with a focus on enhancing social, cultural and physical connections between community schools and surrounding neighborhoods. Establish effective and impactful processes, documentation, metrics, and evaluation for community-led placemaking efforts, for replication across community schools and other community initiatives. Establish and facilitate a cross-sector advisory committee to oversee place-based initiatives focused on community school project areas. Provide leadership for developing strategies that improve community engagement and equity within GSP and MPC endeavors. Facilitate connections between community stakeholders, youth, local businesses, non-profits and public sector staff to implement placemaking efforts in alignment with Community School site-specific priorities. Develop, build and maintain collaborative relationships with local community organizations, school leaders, government partners, businesspersons and other appropriate stakeholders with the aim of furthering community-led placemaking in Knoxville and Knox County. Provide assistance to GSP and MPC staff to incorporate community development principles and placemaking efforts into the community school model and planning efforts. Supervise volunteers and interns working directly with place-based healthy community efforts, in compliance with GSP’s volunteer policies. Seek funds and resources from other sources to support healthy communities work. Be able to work a full-time position with flexible hours (day, evening and weekend in response to program needs).
