Resolution No. 1
A Resolution encouraging Austin Peay State University to explore the plausibility of
reviewing the parking lot behind the Kimbrough and Music Mass Communications
buildings between Marion Street and Henry Street and reconsidering their usefulness, as
there are multiple spaces in the front that could be turned in to parking spaces.
WHEREAS, SGA exists to “make sure their thoughts and needs are heard and addressed
to increase their quality of life,”
WHEREAS, students are very concerned about the lack of parking on campus,
WHEREAS, students are already parking in these spaces regardless and just taking a
ticket for it or assuming it is a space to begin with,
WHEREAS, the rows are divided and every other row has handicap spaces in the front
and the rows that do not have a huge gap between the last space and the sidewalk that could
be turned into spaces,
WHEREAS, Austin Peay’s campus could use all the commuter parking spaces we could
possibly get,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE 64th GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
AUSTIN PEAY STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION
THAT:
Section 1: Upon passage of this Resolution, the Student Government Association will
issue a formal recommendation to the President’s Cabinet to explore the feasibility of
reconsidering the usefulness of the spaces in the front of the Marion Street and Henry
Street commuter parking lot.
