Corrections to program updates:

#5: ….. available in the LRC, computer lab and tutoring center.

Motion to accept minutes as corrected (Amorino/Edwards) passed unanimously.

1. Computer Software Installation

Procedure: Curt Childress

Curt presented the Computer Software Installation Procedure for review. The guidelines are primarily used in line with requests from faculty for new software.

The group had clear consensus to move forward with the procedures as presented.

The District Technology Council is being reinstituted and needs membership from the college. Suggestions from the council for representation included Mary

Halvorson, Joe Yorba (Academic Senate), Scott James (Classified), Erik Santacruz

(student), Distance Ed rep, Continuing Ed rep., and IT rep.

SCC is 7% above last year at this time. Additional numbers were distributed for review.

SB361 would cause changes in the funding formula for community colleges. Also, the district may receive one-time professional development dollars in the amount of $150,000.

Senate elections end today; Club rush is September 27-28; Latino Heritage Month celebration, October 4; Student Services Fair, October 5; CCCSAA October 20—22;

Soccer tailgates, men’s October 31, women’s, November 3; Math Department BBQ,

October 3.

The semester is focused on implementing the ASAP registration and information system. Juan announced that the RSCCD continuing education program is the second largest in the state.

Next meeting is Tuesday, October 3.

Steve announced that parking would be available for faculty and staff behind the

U78 buildings to alleviate parking for the library dedication.

The council approved the form for SLOs to be included on individual courses. The form has been sent to the Academic Senate for approval.

Over 95 have indicated they will participate in Friday’s five-year planning session.

The first draft is due in November, and the second in March 2007.

Meetings for the abbreviated self study will occur in the spring.

The date has been extended for closing the Dean position (Arts, Humanities and

Social Sciences).

Career Center contacted 800 undecided students and invited them to visit the center; counseling department is ready to finalize program review; and outreach has completed their 2002-05 program review. Financial Aid has conducted 10 classroom presentations as part of their “inreach” activities; to date have reached over 1,000 students. The scholarship office has been visiting honors classes to promote two new freshmen scholarships. The Health Center is in the second year of the Alcohol Prevention grant; has secured three faculty to augment existing curriculum with recent data from the American College Health data .

A resolution has been developed in support of Measure O.

Faculty have been requested to submit their recommendations for 2007-2008 faculty hires.
