COUNSELOR’S Corner DIVERSITY: The world we live in is rapidly changing and becoming more diverse. Each day we meet people who are different than ourselves. They may have skin that is a different color or speak a language that is not familiar to us. Sometimes we think that certain jobs or toys are just for girls or just for boys. We might celebrate holidays that others do not. We might walk or talk or look different. It’s our job to appreciate the uniqueness in each one of us. Guidance lessons in April are all about diversity, respect and tolerance. CAREERS: Lastly, students in kindergarten-third grade will be bringing home a “recruitment” letter for parents. In May, Guidance classes in kindergarten-third grade are reserved for career awareness. There is no better way to begin teaching kids about jobs than to have parents share what they do. Please consider coming to school to share your career with your child’s class.
