Description of Learning Activities
The administrative team, along with representative from GA DOE, led the FCHS Leadership Cabinet through a
CCRPI score interpretation seminar. Additionally, teacher-leaders were introduced to the School Improvement
Teams concept being initiated for the 2014-2015 school year.
The administrative team led the core academic department chairpersons through a day & half workshop on
developing common definitions for effective leading & teaching, on leading using the FCHS Planning Wheel
process, on how to conduct non-evaluative peer observations, and on how to best deliver feedback to
teachers.
Staff development led by the principal centered on establishment of the FCHS Planning Wheel – aligned very
closely with the data team process – along with the establishment of the following FCHS “big picture” goals:
1. Instructional – We want to lead ALL of our students to be productive American citizens who – to the
best of their abilities – will: Solve problems; Communicate effectively; and Serve selflessly.
2. Organizational – We want FCHS to be the place where: Parents want to send their children; Students
feel connected to & identify with their school; and Teachers feel empowered to lead.
The second phase of staff development led by the principal centered on establishing school-wide standards of
effectiveness via the FCHS Pantheon of Effectiveness, of which the major elements are:
1. Building positive relationships
2. Establishing clear expectations
3. Designing relevant, engaging work
4. Using ongoing assessment & feedback
5. Analyzing results
