AGENCY GOALS & OBJECTIVES:
Patient and family centered care
DEPARTMENT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
We work with the cardiac and pulmonary patients improving functional capacity and emotional health in a
safe monitored exercise gym providing a lot of education on risk modification. They will get a broad feel for
both the cardiac and pulmonary rehab patient population. We have conference rooms available for formal
educations if students want to host group education with the assistance of one of the CR/PR staff. We have
connections with other departments in throughout the hospital.

HOW WILL YOUR ORGANIZATION USE AND IMPORVE A HEALTH EDUCATION STUDENT’S SKILLS AND
KNOWLEDGE?
 Interaction with low, moderate and high risk patients. We have many complicated cases/patients and
most of the patients are willing to share their real-life experiences.
 Experience with exercise prescription
 Patient education
 Assistance on individual education for patients
 Assistance with basic functional capacity (6-minute walk test)
INTERN INFORMATION – INTERN SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
 Must be able to take a manual BP
 Needs a stethoscope
 Excellent communication skills
 Must be self motivated and a team player
 Upbeat/happy personality

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
We are located in the Health Science Pavilion, Suite 404.
HOURS
Our hours of operation are: MWF 0700-1800, TueThur 0700-1500. MWF are best for students.
PARKING:
Parking is free and a garage is attached to our building. All employees and students/interns are required to
park on the downward part of the garage (will discuss on first visit or before).
DRESS CODE:
Business casual. No athletic wear. Comfortable shoes (no open toes).
OTHER INFORMATION
We are a very upbeat group and love our jobs. We pride ourselves in what we do for our patients and the
community. We feel most of our success is due to the positive experience our patients have here. We love
having interns and being able to help them advance their professions and offer excellent job
recommendations (if deserved). Our staff has great connections with the community and surrounding areas.
