What is it?
A unique and enriching experience working in sport development, an opportunity to
gain insight and understanding in this area of work
You will be volunteering 4-6 hours per week in order to try and increase the number
of people playing badminton regularly at the University
Your role will included promoting the sport and finding ways to increase interest
within the University, coordinating sessions and tournaments
You will also be required to report data on a monthly basis
BADMINTON England will provide you will training and resources to support your
role
In return you will receive:

A passion for Sport

Good communication skills

Requirements:
Attend a training day/weekend at the National Badminton Centre
To volunteer 4-6 hours per week throughout the academic year

Role title:
Higher Education Officer (HEO)
Responsible to:
The University & Badminton England Project Manager
Contract & Hours
4-6 hours per week over the academic year
Office Location:
University office base will be available /home working

Key responsibilities
and main tasks and
activities:



To set up and coordinate weekly badminton sessions
To get students playing Badminton more regularly within the
University facilities
To communicate and promote the badminton activity across
the University (and community if applicable)
To develop opportunities for students to play competitive
and semi-competitive badminton through tournaments
To develop student leaders/coaches/volunteers within
Badminton
To report on participation on a termly basis






Enthusiastic and ability to motivate others
Ability to manage own time and act on own initiative
IT literate
Experience as a volunteer
Some experience or knowledge of Badminton is desirable
An interest in sport development and/or project management



