Temptations like money and love can be hard to resist. Many people think that money, lust and love is everything. Fighting the temptations can also be hard too. In the movie Fighting Temptations there are a lot of that factors that affect the out come of this movie. One is that there is this guy played by Cuba Gooding Jr., who is an adverting agent. He is forced to returned to his hometown to inherit money form his aunt that died. But in order to receive the inheritance he had to become a director of his home town church choir. The movie Fighting Temptations achieved its effect through comic love.
The purpose for this movie was to let the viewer know that temptation of money isn’t everything and that GOD is over everything. This movie took place in a southern country town, Chris Hewitt said, “the setting was the key ingredients in the film”. In order receive the money he had to director this church choir and get then to the Bobby
Jones Gospel Show. When he returned to his home town he was reminded of how this testifying, swooning, women-wearing hat with birds and fruit Baptist church treated his mother and him. His mother wanted to become an R&B singer and travel around the world with her music. There were people in the church that didn’t like her album cover and they said that she was selling the devils music because of the titles of her songs. The person that didn’t like her music told her that she needed to chose between being in the church choir and singing for the Lord or singing R&B for the devil.

The movie had a great effect on the viewer, it is said that “this movie broke the streak of crumminess out of all of Gooding movies” (Chris Hewitt). This movie show how a person should give back to their community and their church. In the movie their was this girl named Lilly played by Beyonce Knowles who had the same dream as
Gooding mother but of course the people at the church ran her out of the church like they did hid mother. She was also a singer with a wedlock child. “There is a strong sense of place and people, who are superstitions about religion, who bicker hardest with people they love and who take the life of their church very seriously” (Chris Hewitt). Gooding lost his job after deciding whether or not to start the church choir. At first he only wanted to start the choir to get the money and then he was going to let some else director the choir and he would get half of the money. But then he thought about his aunt and how she helped his mother and him. So then he wanted to start the choir. He held an open audition for people in the town. The people that become apart of the choir were some people from the church, Lilly and inmates that were in jail.
The reason why this movie had a good affect on the viewer is because it gave a lot good of points. In the film in order to be apart of the choir they had to get baptized. By doing this meant that everyone was saved and would go to heaven. They had to work really hard to make it to the Bobby Jones Gospel Show, but with practice, dedication, love and the faith in God help them to get the show. It also showed that money isn’t everything and that if you trust and believe in God that you can make it through anything.
In the film when Gooding last his job he had something to fall back on. He thought that his job was everything just because he made a lot of money, had a nice house, and lived in New York. Then he realized that his money was everything and that he wanted to be

with people that loved him. This was also another point in the film. That was a really good film and you will enjoy this movie.
