PSA SCRIPT
AS DELIVERED
HUMAN RIGHTS DAY, 10 DECEMBER, 2009
I’m Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Look at all the
people around us. They’re all so different and yet everyone of us is a human being.
We are all entitled to the same rights.
Diversity is normal. It is necessary, it’s a cause for celebration.
Discrimination on the other hand is corrosive. It eats away at our communities and
destroys our trust and respect for one another.
Left unchallenged discrimination has the potential to create violence and bloodshed.
No one should be denied their human rights because of their race, gender, religion,
opinions, social status – you name it.
Lets embrace our diversity and put an end to discrimination.
What do you think of that?
