Technology is the use of science and engineering to
create products that fulfill our human needs and wants.
Many different types of technology (here are just a few)
Information: gathering and storing of data in multiple
forms. ex: internet
Communication: exchanging information ex: Skype
Energy and Power: ability to do work (energy) and the
rate at which transfer and transformation of energy takes
place (power) ex: electricity
Medical: ability to create tools to help combat diseases
and save lives. Vaccines, antibiotics, laser etc.….
Environmental: to create tools to help slow down the
effects of other technological advances that harm the
environment Ex: conservation, recycling
Biotechnology: changing living organisms into products
or new forms. ex: animal husbandry, genetic modification
Manufacturing/Construction: producing materials out of
natural and manmade items to be used in all aspects of
life. Building structures to protect organisms from the
environment
