Brief Biography of Hongzhe SUN (孙红哲)
Hongzhe Sun obtained his Ph.D from the University of London (1996). After postdoctoral work at
the University of Edinburgh, he joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hong
Kong in 1998 where he is currently a professor. He is the recipient of the NSFC Outstanding Young
Scholar Award (2005) and Croucher Senior Research Fellow (2010). He is an editor of
Metallobiology (RSC) and serves on the editorial board of Metallomics and advisory board of J.
Biol. Inorg. Chem. Prof. Sun has also served as a secretary of the Steering Committee of Aisan
Biological Inorganic Chemistry since 2006. His research interests are centered at metallodrugs
and metalloproteins, inorganic structural biology and metallomics/metalloproteomics. Prof. Sun
has published around 100 papers in international journals including Angew. Chem., JACS, JBC and
PNAS and edited a book entitled “biological chemistry of arsenic, antimony and bismuth” (John
Wiley & Sons, 2011).
