The form should be used by your line manager (Reviewer) and your Head of School/Director of Research Institute to: assess and review achievement against Year 2 objectives assess and record the extent to which you currently meet the criteria for career progression to Grade 8; set specific objectives for the year ahead which deliver the strategic requirements of the University and your School/Research Institute and the outcomes required for progression towards promotion; identify the actions required by you and your manager(s) for you to reach the required standard within the agreed timescale; use as a template for a structured discussion with your Head of School/Director of Research Institute and Mentor on your development needs and plan for how these will be met. Before confirmation of your objectives, the completed form will be reviewed by the ECDP Board of Review to ensure the objectives set are clear, measurable and realistic, aligned with the relevant promotion criteria, and are likely to lead to progression within the required timescale. Criteria for Promotion to Grade 8 Evidence of Achievements/Outputs in Year 2 of Programme Objectives for Year 3 of the programme Research & Scholarship Output Published research which demonstrates an upward trajectory in terms of research quality at internationally excellent standard. A scholarly output which includes 4 publications in the most recent 6 year period with two at 3* (RAE/REF level) and with none of these below 2*. A monograph may substitute for two publications. Award Generation Principal Investigator or key contributor on a significant RCUK, EU and/or other grants. Independent research development including authorship of highly rated grant applications. Supervision Leading of PGR and research supervision. Page | 2 Knowledge Exchange & Impact Success in knowledge transfer to improve the performance of business, commerce and/or industry. Communication of research results to the public or public bodies across a range of stakeholders relating to changes in practice/policy. Public and/or cultural engagement and engagement with policy development leading to knowledge transfer or cultural exchange. Teaching & Learning Excellent standard of teaching performance involving a range of teaching methods as judged by evaluation methods including student feedback and peer review. Application of an enhancement-based approach to teaching, supporting student learning or assessment e.g. use of inquiry based approaches, effective assessment procedures, effective use of technology.
