Classroom needs this week:
We need a box of straws for
Wednesday’s STEAM activity.
Hello,
The children had a great time with last week’s STEAM activity. They had to engineer a nest to
hold eggs (marbles). I am so proud of how well they are working in teams.
Please have you child spend some time this week researching their Science Fair project. They
should have their how to question to me by Friday October 2nd. Example how questions are:
Which gum brand last the longest?
Does the shape of an ice cube affect how quickly it melts?
Which brand of popcorn pops the most kernels?
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
Please send back signed envelopes for progress reports if you have not done so
already.

This week in School:
Reading: The children will be reading leveled readers about weather in differentiated guided
reading groups.
Skill: cause and effect
Spelling- Spelling test is on Friday.
Wordly Wise- We will begin lesson three on Monday.
Writing- The children will be working on a choice probe. They will choose a topic they are
interesting in researching. The choice probe is due October, 2, 2015.
Math: This week we are reviewing the 4th grade skill, how to multiply multi-digit numbers. Next
we will learn how to multiply decimals which is a 5th grade objective. We will have a math test
on Thursday on adding and subtracting decimals and multiplying a single digit by a multi-digit
number.
Science: We are continuing to learn about weather. Your child will be coming home with a
weather study guide by the end of the week. We will have a weather test Thursday, October 8th.
Homework for week of 9-28-2015
Math: worksheet daily.
Reading: read 20 minutes each night.
Vocabulary: Wordly Wise: Monday-3A,3B, Tuesday 3C,3D,Wednesday and Thursday,
Narrative. The children do receive a test grade for their Wordly Wise pack.
Writing: Choice Probe due on Friday, October 2nd, 2015.
