Classroom Needs:

The kids were so creative with the Lego STEAM!
Hello,
Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to be a chaperone for our class trip. I now have five
chaperones but would really love some more. If there is any way you can chaperone for our field trip on
April 28, 2016 please email me.
Thank you in advance.
Tomorrow the children will vote on a theme for our class basket for Picnic in the Park. I will then
send home a sign up genius. Items will be due on May 13, 2016.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
April 20—Early Release Day: Children are dismissed at 11:00
April 27—Student Led Conferences 3:30-6:00 P.M. Please come by to see your child’s progress this
year.
April 28—Field trip
April 29—Field day
May 20—Bowling Field Trip (I need a lot of chaperones…)

This week in School:
Reading: We will continue to learn about different types of poetry and figurative language. The children
are doing a great job writing their own poems.
We will also be reading The Unsinkable Wreck of the R.M.S. Titanic in honor of the Anniversary of the
Titanic which sank on April 15, 1912. We have a reading test on our story on Friday.
Vocabulary: Wordly Wise lesson 12.
Spelling: new spelling words go home on Monday. Spelling test is given on Friday.
Writing: The children will be writing Haikus, Limerick, and Quatrain poems.
Math: We are learning about solids and volume.
Science: We will begin our unit on Force and Motion.
Homework for week of 4-18-2016
Math-worksheets
Reading-The children may be writing poems if they do not complete them during Daily five. Re-read
Titanic story at home with an adult for test on Friday.
Spelling: practice words for test on Friday.
Wordly Wise- Monday less 11A, 11B, Tuesday 11C, 11D, Wednesday and Thursday, Narrative. The
pack is due on Friday. The children do get a test grade on completion of the pack.
Science- study science definitions for 15 minutes a night. We will have a L to J quiz every week. (It does
not count as a grade)
