Grading and Materials Materials Needed: Math Book, Notebook (three-ring binder with dividers), and pencils Graphing Calculator (TI-84 Plus) Grading Policy: A student’s grade will be determined by the following: announced quizzes unannounced “pop” quizzes tests notebook and bellringer check nine weeks project classwork grades Homework is checked to see if the student is completing all assignments. Homework is checked to see if the student has tried all problems, not to see if the student has obtained the correct answer. I feel that students can only learn by trying, so I reward their work by giving credit for homework when ALL problems have been tried. This is one way that a student may help his/her average. Students who do not do homework will notice a drop in grade. Each student will receive an “Up Your Grade” card. You may receive a stamp for the following reasons: perfect attendance no tardies “A” on a test or quiz homework check When the card is full, the student will have 2% added to his/her final grade for the nine weeks. It is the student’s responsibility to keep the card. If the card is lost, the student must start a new card. At the end of the first four and a half weeks of each nine weeks, I will send home an interim report. Please ask your child about this interim report. Your child can find out what his/her grade is at any time during the nine weeks. You will also be able to view your child’s grades in Phoenix. All make-up work must be made up immediately following an absence. Please read school policy regarding this matter. If you have any questions concerning your child’s work or grades, please e-mail me at betty.davis@lcps.org . I am looking forward to meeting you at “Back To School Night”.
