During the month of September we will be discussing citizenship, responsibility, and famous Americans. Our first science unit will be on biomes. In Math, we will be reviewing ordinal #’s and skip counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. We also will be working on patterns, addition with missing addends, and addition/subtraction facts. As this information is taught and worksheets are sent home, please review these skills with your child. Communication I am available whenever you need to discuss questions or concerns that you have about your child. Please don’t hesitate to call or email me any time. I can be reached via the school phone at 703957-4350 or via email at Elizabeth.carrig@lcps.org. I look forward to hearing from you! In October, we will be learning about place value and rounding in Math, and maps and globes in Social Studies. What Can You Do to Help? WELCOME! I’ve been very excited to come back to school and prepare for another wonderful school year. I look forward to adding to the “Ms. Carrig’s Class Family” and getting to better know you and your children over the next few months. Let’s work together to make this the best school year yet! At the start of this school year, your role in your child’s education is always essential. Reading at home nightly with them, checking their homework, and helping prepare for upcoming spelling and content tests is important to their success. You can also volunteer in the classroom this year. This is a great way to get to know your child’s classmates and help them learn. Information was given at Back to School Night about how you can volunteer. If you already turned that form in – THANK YOU and stay tuned! MMM…SNACK TIME!!! Please note that we will be having a brief snack time each morning. If your child wishes to participate in snack time, please remember to pack a daily snack that is easily accessible in your child’s backpack. Please note when packing snack that we have children in our class allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, and citrus fruit. Please note: In an effort to go paperless, all future monthly newsletters will be available on my bio page of the HFES webpage. Don’t forget to check them out on the first Fri of every month!
