Mr. Schiffer’s Creative Writing Class Welcomes the Creighton’s Corner Critics Creative Writing Class, Fall 2014 On Thursday, December 4, Mrs. Wardell’s fifth grade class travelled to Heritage High School to provide literary criticism of the children’s books written by Mr. Schiffer’s Creative Writing class. As part of the curriculum for the Creative Writing class, each student wrote a children’s book and had the fifth grade students critique them. Some of the topics the fifth grade students addressed were as follows: the grade level of the books, the theme of the books, the plot line, the personality traits of the main characters, and the appeal of the books. The fifth grade students made a presentation to the Creative Writing class and then met personally with each author to discuss the book. Heritage treated the fifth graders to lunch in the cafeteria before they headed back to Creighton’s Corner. The Heritage students commented that they were impressed with the level of criticism and insight that the Creighton’s Corner students provided. Both schools hope the exchange can continue.
