Review last meeting notes (Kathy Fernandes) Kathy reminded the committee that they can always contact her with concerns or questions about meeting notes. She also mentioned that a Webinar on Web writing is available in a PowerPoint presentation (user will need to purchase accompanying) audio file. Review homework assignment (Laura Kling) Laura reported that there were many specific responses to the Web redesign homework assignment. The responses need to be grouped into broad categories; the Web Design Team will follow up. Home page goals (Laura Kling) Laura presented a handout “Home Page Goals and Objectives” outlining the Web Redesign Project. Using these goals and objectives the Web Design team has started to create “sections” of related information to be placed on the home page as described further in Tony’s presentation below. First draft of Information Architecture (Tony Dunn) Tony showed draft wireframes (or sections) of the new home page (see handouts from Wiki page) with annotations about the purpose of each section. He explained that the wireframe showed how the information would be grouped together on the page, and did not indicate final location or the design. He showed an expandable space on the page for emergency messages. He compared the information architecture of the wireframes with what we currently have on the home page and discussed what is staying, what is going away, and what is getting reorganized or repurposed. There will be more dynamic content regions on the new page which will allow us to tell our story and better communicate with all of our audiences. Tony reiterated that it will be a major commitment to develop and maintain the content for the new home page. Questions/Comments (Kathy) Next WCC meeting on May 4th at 10am in Studio A. The Web Design Team will be drilling down on the information architecture between now and then. If you cannot make it to a meeting, please send someone from your department to represent you. The next Web Management Committee meeting will take place after the May 4th WCC meeting.
