GMO Position Paper
Research Instructions:
1. For the next two days, you will use the PVHS library databases to research,
first, what is GMO? Then, the pros and cons of GMO, “Genetically Modified Organisms”.
2. While researching you will make a table listing the Pros and Cons. (You should find
enough information to fill at least one page. ) For example....
Pros about GMO
1. Greater quantities of food produced
without the use of pesticides.
Cons about GMO
1. Expense of GMO seed are putting
small farmers out of business.
3. You will need to read, and cite, at least 5 different sources.
Position Paper Instructions:
4. After researching the Pros and Cons of GMO, you will need to take a stand and write
a persuasive paper convincing the reader whether this country should allow the
growth and distribution of GMO products, or not. If GMO is allowed, should
companies be required to label their products as such? You will need to cite the
information you used from your table.
5. Your paper should be at least 5 paragraphs and include a bibliography.
