General Review of Programme and General Time Schedule
The President expressed his hope that the established atmosphere of IFCS meetings as a forum for
open dialogue, discussion and brainstorming among countries and all stakeholders leading to better
understanding of needs and challenges and actions/solutions will prevail during Forum V. He noted
that there may be a number of "new" participants to Forum sessions whose only experience may have
been in the formal negotiating structure of international/intergovernmental meetings. It will be
important for a successful outcome for all to clearly understand the IFCS procedure/way of working
as established by governments and other stakeholders.
The Secretariat reviewed the proposed time schedule for plenary sessions and each of the plenary
session lead sponsors reviewed the programme of speakers and organization for each plenary session
as presented in the Forum V Plenary Programme (Room Document). Several speakers and
presentation titles remained to be confirmed. S. Clarkson stated that he would be making the
presentation on behalf of the Government of Canada during the Toys and Chemical Safety session.
