FACILITIES SERVICES Job Description Facilities Maintenance & Construction Program Coordinator Job Code: 7256 – Contract Classified Program Coordinator Construction Department Introduction: Facilities Maintenance and Facilities Construction are responsible for general maintenance, repair, alterations, and renovations of all campus facilities including building interiors, exteriors, and grounds. Job Purpose: Facilities Construction (FC) is the University of Washington’s in-house provider for construction and remodel work that, by statute, must not exceed $90K for multi trade work and $45K for single trade work. Under general direction of the Program Support Supervisor II, this position provides support for Facilities Construction management staff, using knowledge and experience specific to the Facilities Construction Program and Facilities Maintenance & Construction (FMC) overall. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide primary administrative assistance for Facilities Construction Maintain timekeeping function in accordance with our work management system Using independent judgment, identify and resolve issues Inform employees on issues involving leave usage Prepare hiring and termination documentation including computer access and work management system setup Update and maintain internal reporting databases; i.e. higher level duty, overtime and FMC personnel database Update Training Management System (TMS), work closely with shop supervisors and run needed reports Provide backup support for FC Project Services as assigned Create and maintain productive working relationships with customers, the FC team and other business partners Comply with all University and Facilities Services policies and procedures, Facilities Maintenance & Construction (FMC) protocols, i.e. Individual Accountability Protocols (IAP) Support all management directives and the vision and values of FMC Participate in and follow through with FMC process improvement initiatives (Balanced Scorecard, Lean, Idea Systems) Provide excellent customer service through effective, courteous and professional interactions with clients, colleagues and the campus community Actively participate in meetings and training as scheduled Perform other duties as assigned Regular and predictable attendance is required Core Competencies: Demonstrate personal integrity and trustworthiness Manage stressful situations and changing priorities effectively Anticipate, recognize and resolve problems Be responsible and accountable Use organizational skills and provide attention to details Maintain a positive, optimistic and success-oriented attitude Exercise professional demeanor, which includes being tactful and courteous Exhibit a professional work ethic Continuously promote a safe work environment Required Skills, Experience and Knowledge: High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience Demonstrated successful ability in taking direction, working well with others and as a member of a team 09/13/13 Page 1 of 2 Demonstrated excellence in effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated proficiency working with detailed documentation, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy Demonstrated successful experience with computer technology Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to details Regular and predictable attendance is required Have knowledge and understand of safe work practices and policies Must be able to wear all proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate in English regarding the use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures Desirable Skills, Experience and Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working with skilled trades and familiarity skilled trades nomenclature Demonstrated proficiency with computerized work management and purchasing systems Demonstrated proficiency with HEPPS or OPUS Possess a Bachelor’s Degree Conditions of Employment: Must be able to work in a non-smoking environment Valid driver’s license recognized by the state of Washington A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background verification will be required prior to hire 09/13/13 Page 2 of 2
