- Full-time graduate assistantship for Spring-Sumer 2016 and/or the academic year 2016-2017.
- $4,000 stipend + tuition reimbursement for up to 9 credits per semester.
- We will give priority to students that meet one or more of these requirements:
o Strong background in software development & experience with SOLID principles (objectoriented programming & design) in Java.
o Experience in research data system implementation.
o Strong background in database design & development.
Position Description
The Graduate Assistant Programmers will:





Participate in the development of dynamic, data and media-rich web sites. And, full cycle of
software development, including requirements specification and documentation.
Assist with database design and development using Oracle 11g and PostgreSQL.
Work closely with data owners and subject matter experts to understand source data, and how
best to represent it within the database.
Create or modify the ETL pipeline to process and load data from different sources.
Interact with CRI technology and research staff to develop and implement user interfaces and
data visualization techniques for various data sets and research findings.
Qualifications
 Proficiency in SQL and basic knowledge of database design and development.
 Proficiency in JAVA/JSP. Strong knowledge of other programming languages will be considered.
 Proficiency in HTML, HTML5. Familiarity with CSS.
 Proficiency in Javascript. Familiarity with jQuery and AJAX.
 Familiarity with at least one of the following IDE’s (Eclipse, Netbeans).
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Good self-management and ability to work independently with supervision.
 Ability to plan and organize the work load in order to meet deadlines.
 High level of self-initiative and willingness to learn.
 Experience with technical documentation and user manuals, and/or knowledge of diagraming
software such as VISIO is a plus but not a requirement.

passion and curiosity and who are simply good at getting things done.
Orientation/Supervision
Training and supervision are provided on an ongoing basis. CRI takes its responsibility for the development of
students seriously; we are always willing to participate in any GA Supervisor orientations and each semester we
will conduct a review meeting covering the student’s work, skill development, interests, and mentoring needs.
