THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Director, International Education CODE: 0345 FUNCTION: Oversee international programming, create training modules for international office staff, develop training modules for academic departments and offices, assist with international recruitment, and assist with immigration advising as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Function 1 Oversee the development of a comprehensive strategy for programming for international students and scholars. Supervise programming staff. Participate in programming activities as needed. Percent time 20 Function 2 Create training opportunities for international office staff. Develop training modules for UTA academic departments and service offices to improve the quality of interactions with staff and international students and scholars. Percent time 40 Function 3 Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive international recruitment strategy. Assist in updating and improving recruitment materials. Follow-up with student recruitment contacts. Percent time 30 Function 4 Assist with immigration advising and processing as needed. Percent time 10 ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: Executive Director, International Education SUPERVISON: Number of employees supervised (non-students): 1 Number of students supervises: 1 INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS : Environmental demands Exposure to standard office conditions Physical tasks Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in related field: Education, Counseling, International Education or related degree. 5 years of experience in the field of international education with at least three years of experience in direct university international office experience. Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty/staff and students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Good communication and writing skills. Must be able to organize and prioritize.(Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.)
