THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Director of Development – Leadership Gifts, Architecture & SUPA CODE: 0345 FUNCTION: Secure private and voluntary support for UT Arlington from Alumni, Friends, Corporations and Foundations for the School of Architecture and the School of Urban and Public Affairs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Make personal contact with individuals, corporate representatives, and foundation officers as appropriate for building relationships and securing philanthropic support. Manage a portfolio of prospects from all constituencies of the assigned school or college, including alumni, advisory council members, parents and friends. Work with the Assistant Director of Constituent Relations to develop support material such as solicitation letters, collateral material, and formal proposals. Work with faculty and administration to determine funding priorities and potential funding sources for various academic programs. Work collaboratively with annual giving and planned giving efforts to secure gifts in support of the assigned school or college priorities and mission. Close supervision of assigned staff. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: VP Development SUPERVISES: INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to standard office conditions; Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation; Use of manual dexterity; Climbing of stairs; Climbing of ladders; Lifting and moving. Office of Development is open to the public Monday - Friday, 8:00AM 5:00PM. This position may also require occasional travel, evening and weekend hours. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree. 5 years related experience in development, higher education, or sales/marketing. Accomplished fundraising professional with proven management skills acquired through a development/external affairs position. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong work ethic. Results-oriented philosophy. Excellent judgment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Visionary, goal-oriented, planning and organizational skills, ability to motivate people, well versed in the language of budgeting and accounting, adequate computer skills (MS Office).
