Assistant Vice President Purpose Purpose: In collaboration with the Vice President for Development, the AVP for University Development will design and implement fundraising strategies for university-wide development programs and initiatives and lead the University Development team in creating effective programming to increase voluntary support of UT Arlington. Essential Functions Function 1: Manages professional and administrative staff responsible for annual giving programs, Dial-aMav, Graduate School development, University Library development, Honors College development and Division of Student Life development, Special Events and Constituent Relations. Responsible for hiring, training, coaching and motivating the University Development team. 20 % Time Function 2: Manages a portfolio of major donors and prospects; visiting, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding them on an ongoing basis. Designs and implements a program to engage and solicit prospects located in regions outside of the DFW area. 20 % Time Function 3: Works with Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Heads and Directors of Development to create and implement strategies for successfully achieving development goals for annual giving and special projects. 15 % Time Function 4: Designs and implements new programming to increase the amount of private voluntary support coming to UT Arlington. 15 % Time Function 5: Serves as a senior staff member in the Office of Development, providing leadership in strategic planning and the design and implementation of special projects and campaigns 10 % Time Function 6: Works closely with the Executive Director of the Alumni Association to create and coordinate programming that will increase alumni support of UT Arlington. 10 % Time Function 7: Completes other duties as assigned to assist the Vice President in achieving fundraising goals. 10 % Time Function 8: % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other related functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in development at a college, university or large non-profit organization. Executive level experience in a development office with five years of management experience. Ability to lead, train and motivate staff to superior performance. Exemplary communications and human relations skills and broad experience in a development program. Exceptional writing and verbal skills. Strong work ethic, integrity, excellent judgment, and the ability to perform quick strategic analysis. Preferred Qualifications: Optimistic, visionary and goal-oriented. Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to motivate people. Well versed in budgeting and accounting.
