Carpenter II
Purpose
Purpose:
To provide journeyman level skills performing carpentry work. Responsible for using
power and hand tools in the construction, maintenance and repair of structures,
equipment and articles of wood.
Essential Functions
Function 1:
Perform general finish carpentry and cabinet work in the alteration, repair and
maintenance of floors, roofs, walls, stairways, doors, windows and other structures,
operating power saws, planners, jointers and hand tools. Repair and build tables,
benches, cabinets, furniture, bookshelves, desks and counters.

Function 2:
Complete bath, kitchen and office renovations. Install shower, tub enclosures and
sinks.

Function 3:
Complete routine Work Orders for maintenance and repairs as requested

Function 4:
Lay formica, tile and other floor coverings.

Function 5:
Select wood and cut to size. Sand surfaces. Clean, sharpen and repair hand and
bench tools. Sharpen saws. Oil machines and perform preventive maintenance work.

Function 6:
Cut glass to size and shape. Insert glass in windows or openings and glaze it. Check
condition of woodwork. Repair and replace door and window screens and hardware.
Perform minor construction projects. Keeps records of materials used. Perform
related duties as required.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School Graduation or 3 years experience. Three years of skilled/journeyman
level experience. Applicants must include in their online resume the following
information: 1) Employment history: name of company, period employed (from
month/year to month/year), job title, summary of job duties and 2) Education:
college or college degree, list school name, degree type, major, graduated or not,
and hours completed if not graduated.
Preferred Qualifications:
Skill with tools of the carpentry trade, including use of power woodworking
machinery. May be required to have a valid Texas Operator's License. Accuracy in all
phases of work performed. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but
occasionally involve exposure to one or more disagreeable elements such as dust,
dirt and other hazards of carpentry equipment. Alertness and careful attention is
required to avoid injury to self and to others. Specific job requirements or physical
location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security
sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education
Code.
