Carpenter II Purpose Purpose: To provide journeyman level skills performing carpentry work. Responsible for using power and hand tools in the construction, maintenance and repair of structures, equipment and articles of wood. Essential Functions Function 1: Perform general finish carpentry and cabinet work in the alteration, repair and maintenance of floors, roofs, walls, stairways, doors, windows and other structures, operating power saws, planners, jointers and hand tools. Repair and build tables, benches, cabinets, furniture, bookshelves, desks and counters. 45 % Time Function 2: Complete bath, kitchen and office renovations. Install shower, tub enclosures and sinks. 15 % Time Function 3: Complete routine Work Orders for maintenance and repairs as requested 15 % Time Function 4: Lay formica, tile and other floor coverings. 10 % Time Function 5: Select wood and cut to size. Sand surfaces. Clean, sharpen and repair hand and bench tools. Sharpen saws. Oil machines and perform preventive maintenance work. 5 % Time Function 6: Cut glass to size and shape. Insert glass in windows or openings and glaze it. Check condition of woodwork. Repair and replace door and window screens and hardware. Perform minor construction projects. Keeps records of materials used. Qualifications Required Qualifications: High School Graduation or 3 years experience. Three years of skilled/journeyman level experience. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve exposure to one or more disagreeable elements such as dust, dirt and other hazards of carpentry equipment. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and to others.
