Manager, Operations and Services Job Description TITLE: Manager, Operations and Services JOB CODE: 9314 EFFECTIVE DATE: FLSA STATUS: E EEO6 CODE: 3 = Professional/Non-faculty PURPOSE: To manage, coordinate and supervise equipment, personnel and the productfon processes involved in user services. Responsible for the design of operational procedures for the implementation and maintenance of user services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops and sustains operational procedures and standards. Settles scheduling and usage conflicts. Designs and supervises the relationship between computer operation processes and users. Evaluates and maintains standards for operations personnel. Coordinates activities of operations section with system section, and supervises their completion. Maintain inventory control. Formulates specifications of nonroutine work orders and requisitions and supervises their completion. Responsible for disaster recovery duties as outlined in department's recovery manual. Performs related duties as required. Evaluates and recommends new equipment end auxiliary devices. Directs new product quality evaluation procedures. Performs various duties in the area of disaster recovery testing and planning. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from Director and Associate Director of the Computation Center or Director Data Processing. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: Direct supervision to Supervisor, Computer Operations, and Supervisor Auxiliary Equipment Operations. General supervision to Computer Operators, Magnetic Tape Librarian, Control Clerk Coder, and Data Entry Operators. REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: Bachelor's degree in appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Three years of experience in computer operations and/or systems programming including one year in a supervisory capacity. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be thoroughly acquainted with the computer processing equipment and data communications equipment. High degree of skill inn management techniques. Precision and clarity in both written and verbal communications.
