Significance of College Students’ Perspectives and Employment of Loanwords - A Case of Southern Taiwan University The goal of this study is to investigate the circumstances of the employment of loanword in Taiwan and better understand internal / external cultures. The contribution of the study is that it observes the perceptions of college students toward loanwords and discusses the cross-culture conflicts in Taiwan culture. Hence the researcher collects this information and investigates participants’ acceptance of loanwords. Furthermore, the researcher brings some problems and solutions regarding loanwords. In addition, this study examines participants’ living habits in relation to different external cultures and loanwords. Through this survey, the researcher also observes whether or not the majority of people all accept and utilize formal language in their discourse. In addition, this study will note which loanwords have a higher than usual frequency of usage in order that better understand how loanwords blend into and influence society and local culture. From this, we can hopefully see more clearly how loanwords enrich our language expressions and benefit international interaction and communication.
