In order to avoid eating bad food that contains harmful bacteria such as E. coli 0157:H7, Salmonella, and Listeria, researchers have used a lot of ways to examine the safety of our food. Scientists are also changing the animals and plants’ genes so that we can enhance the quality of the food we eat. This method is called genetic engineering. Genetic engineering can make seeds grow faster and bigger, taste sweeter, or even continue longer. Thus, Biotech foods can offer obvious benefits. However, biotech foods may damage our environment. “Advocates of genetically engineered crops argue that some genetically modified plants may actually be good for the land, by offering an environmentally friendly alternative to pesticide, which tends to pollute water and harm animals”. Consequently, biotech foods also have disadvantages. Apparently, the safety of our food is very important. Scientists and researchers will try to do everything to ensure the food that is no bad bacteria. With the notice of the food’s quality, we can reduce the risk of eating wrong food. Moreover, we can also decrease the death rate and provide more good food for people to eat.
