Personal Statement – In not more than 200 words, make the case for you. Explain why you would like to participate in the program, and how doing so will help you meet your educational goals. If you believe that you have experience relevant to participating in the program, you may wish to discuss that experience and how it will help you benefit from the program and contribute to it. This essay will help the Professors appraise your suitability for the program and help them match you with an externship.

Interests – Identify government agencies, non-government non-profit organizations, or simply law/policy issues that are of interest to you in terms of externship placement. You might wish to look at the list of where Ohio State students have had externships in past summers. Please identify any leads on externship placement (e.g., a contact at a federal agency who told you they are interested in taking you or other Ohio State law students for the summer).
