Center – not able to attend
b. UWO Insurance & Risk Management Club – New Club President Schettle, when
are the regular meetings and what type of events do you have set up, currently
company visits to insurance companies are set up by the professors and the first
meeting is not set up.
c. Sarah Martin Kriha from career services – Career Fair March 3, reverse career fair
happens before the career fair starts from 11 am to 11:45 am. Sarah’s email is
krihas@uwosh.edu if you would like to participate in the reverse career fair please
email her for details

OSA Directors – legislative updates PowerPoint is on the OSA website under
OSA Assembly agendas and minutes, federal, Govern Walker will release his
budget Wednesday and will be effective July 1, 2015 every two year basis, Elect
Her want to go visit the women’s center website. Dr. Petra Roter: Chancellor
Leavitt will be a guest at assembly next week to explain what this means to UW
Oshkosh, talks of layoff, hiring freeze in place at this time not renew people,
policy and procedure have not had to lay any one off, Leadership council will
take place of U-Plan, leaders on campus including vice chancellors will meet
twice a month instead of meeting once a month to address some of these concerns
lots of stuff coming on with public authority timing of budget forums is a good
one. Wisconsin Review: How will the budget cuts effect Reeve and Flectcher
construction? Answer: PR programs in progress or in line for approval or design
in process, has money placed aside that we have been saving to put towards this
projects.

Unfinished Business –
OSA 14-016
WHEREAS, the Federal Perkins Loan Program is the nation’s longest running student loan
program; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Perkins Loan Program has yet to be reauthorized for the September
30th 2015 deadline and if the program fails to be reauthorized by this date, it will cease to exist
on October 1st 2015; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Perkins Loan offers low-interest, subsidized loans to students attending
college within the University of Wisconsin System, and more specifically the University of
Wisconsin Oshkosh; and
WHEREAS, these loans assist students with significant financial need to finance the quickly
growing cost of higher education; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Perkins loan “fills a critical gap that exists for many students after the
federal Pell Grant and Stafford Loan funds are applied”; and
WHEREAS, many of these loans are awarded to students of lower income status who may not
have the ability to finance their education through private loans, which carry higher interest
rates; and
WHEREAS, the program offers more favorable loan forgiveness opportunities to students than
any other federal loan program, allowing students to eliminate their debt by working in high
need, public service areas; and
WHEREAS, without this loan program, many students may be unable to complete their
education; and
WHEREAS, in the 2012-2013 academic year, The Federal Perkins Loan program provided loans
to 15,285 students across the University of Wisconsin System; and
WHEREAS, by eliminating this program, up to $28.4 million in financial aid will be taken
directly from the students across the University of Wisconsin System; and
WHEREAS, if the US Congress does not reauthorize this program, students attending college
during the 2015-2016 school year, and the years thereafter, will not receive loans through The
Federal Perkins Loan Program;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Oshkosh Student Association urges the
reauthorization of the Federal Perkins Loan Program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that if the Federal Perkins Loan Program is not reauthorized by
the current deadline, the Oshkosh Student Association urges Congress to put in place a program
that will ensure that the affected students will receive adequate financial assistance to complete
their education; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution will be delivered to Dr. Andrew
Leavitt, Chancellor of UW Oshkosh; Dr. Petra Roter, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs; Mr.
Kim Donat, Director of Financial Aid; and Dr. Ray Cross, UW System President.

Discussion: Federal Perkins Loan Program ending this September, this is stating OSA’s
stance that this program should continue or a different program should be created that is
similar to it.

New Business –
Committee Reports – Student Tech Fee looking for several more people looking for
additional members come and see her Chontelle Jones, four more students Feb 24 –
April 1st, The veteran’s memorial committee is looking for members – veteran friendly
nothing on campus to mark – all across campus event to help celebrate let Jordan know
if anyone wants to be on committee. Preferred Name committee did meet – able to get
through, available to change their name on D2L contact Lee or Liz Cannon at LGTBQ
international students just the name in D2L odaym74 or Liz Cannon at Resource center.

Discussion –
a. Nominations for Speaker Pro Tempore of Assembly – Elections commissioner
Steven Thompson administer all OSA Elections. Read duties and qualifications.
From the constitution continue serve four hours per week in OSA office and
attend OSA Senate at 4:45 pm on Tuesdays

Announcements – Budget Open Forums on Feb 9th at 9:10 and February 10th at noon in
the Reeve, Theatre. TAB – open auditions tomorrow. Taste of Oshkosh Wednesday
11:30 am – 1 pm in Reeve Concourse. Friday, Titan Nights glow in the dark roller
skating, glow sticks. Club/orgs Delta Omega, What time does check in start for Taste of
Oshkosh? Answer: 10:30 am
