RUSSELL BREAUX NAMED TO NATIONAL JAZZ ALL-STAR ENSEMBLE
Russell Breaux, a trumpet player at Temple College, has been selected to the National
Community College All-Star Jazz Ensemble, which will perform at the International Association of
Jazz Educators convention in New York City from Jan. 10 - 13.
Breaux was selected through a taped audition process, which included tapes submitted from
schools across the United States. He is currently a member of the Temple College Jazz
Ensemble, directed by Tim Doherty. He has been a past member of the Temple College Wind
Symphony, Orchestra, and Brass Ensemble.
A 1994 graduate of Temple High School, he has been a member of the Texas All-state Junior
College Band and Jazz Ensemble. He has performed with the Temple Symphony Orchestra. A
student of Tom Fairlie, Russell plans to attend the Conservatory for Recording Arts and Sciences
in Tempi, Arizona, next year.
