Stage 5: Support It - Students will gradually take responsibility for using the writing strategy and self-regulating procedures. -Teacher provides differentiated levels of support according to students progress. -Student should be independent after writing 2-4 compositions. Stage 3: Model It Modeling should: -be presented in an authentic, enthusiastic and engaging way. -include any prompts that will be available for students (graphic organizers, charts, etc.). -show students how to use the steps of the strategy and effectively utilize selfregulation procedures. Stage 6: Independent Performance -Students independently use the writing strategy and self-regulation procedures. -Teacher and student continue to apply plans for generalization and maintenance to evaluate efficacy. -Other self-regulation procedures (goal setting, self-assessment) may be faded over time, as appropriate.
