Thursday is the 100th day of school! We are going to celebrate the day by doing a variety of activities with the number 100. What are we learning this week? Math: We are continuing with writing and solving addition and subtraction story problems using strategies. Reading/Writing: Students should bring home their guided reading baggie and sight word baggie each night for practice and they need to bring them back to school each day. We are learning about 7-Up sentences. We will challenge ourselves to write sentences with at least 7 or more words in them. IB/Social Studies/Science: We are continuing our new unit: Where We Are in Place and Time. We are still working on geography and maps, and will add landforms. 2. On the 100th day, we are going to have a 100th day snack. If possible, I would like for every student to bring in bags of small food items that could be put in a trail mix. This could be things like 100 pieces of cereal, M&Ms, goldfish, small crackers, peanuts, raisins, etc. Just look through your cabinets and see what you have and have your child start counting. (This is good math practice!) Please use a tissue or something so that your child is not touching each piece with their hands. Please put your 100 pieces in a bag or baggie and we will dump them all in a big bowl for our yummy treat on Thursday. 3. Please notice that I have sent home a note today about a homework assignment for this week. Please complete the questionnaire and your child will complete the project at school. 4. I am also sending home a note about our Valentine’s Day party next week on Friday, Feb. 12th. Please fill it out if you would like to send in items for the party. 5.
