Conduct the following experiment in class:
A. A. Cover one bucket of fresh manure with chopped straw, and leave another
bucket uncovered. Blindfold students and ask them to score the intensity of
the odor from a scale of one (no odor) to five (intense odor).
B. B. Tabulate the scores and determine the average for each pail. Which
treatment yielded higher scores? Theorize why students' scores varied.
