PRE-LAB:
Have students write about how a chick survives in an egg. What do they need to
survive? How do they know when to hatch?
PROCEDURE:
After you color the pictures, cut along the outside dotted line. Next fold the paper
in half lengthwise so pictures are on the outside. Fold in half again so numbers 7 &
8 face one another. Then fold number 2 toward number 3 and fold number 5
toward number 4. You now have a small book to read and flip through beginning with
page 1.
EXTENSION:
In the spring time, bring in baby chicks from a local farm supply store for students
to see and feel a live chick.
