MIS 5102 Spring 2011 Project, Updated 7/11/2016 Viju Raghupathi PROJECT REPORT (Due: April 27, 9pm) MIS5102 – Business Systems Analysis Working in a team of 4-5 students, you will apply analysis techniques to gather, understand, and represent the user requirements for an information system. It must be a real system for a real client. Qualifications for a potential project include: A department or business unit of a large firm such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, a department of an institution such as a university or government branch (e.g. Federal Reserve), or a small privately owned business. Must have a business problem (or opportunity) that requires an interactive system. An employee knowledgeable in the problem domain willing to serve as the client contact for your team. The purpose of this project is to gain hands-on experience performing business systems analysis on a real-life project. Your performance on this project will be assessed based on two deliverables: written project report and a group oral presentation. You will analyze the requirements for automating a business process. The major outcome of your analysis is the development of Request for Proposal in the project report. Successful completion of the project requires a clear summary of the business requirements and a proposed solution along with enough detail to support implementation project scoping. Finally, a quality project report will also document the process used to arrive at its conclusions. INTERIM PROJECT DELIVERABLES: 1. Update the google doc with the topic.
