E-Board Report Vice President of Finance February 12, 2014 Graduate Student Government Senate, I am excited to report to you my activities and on-going efforts since my last report, two weeks ago. A large number of group funding applications have been received and reviewed by the Finance Committee. So far this month we have approved a total of 6 events with expenses over $5000 collectively. I have also continued to meet regularly with our Center for Student Involvement (CSI) Advisor, Steph Pierce, as well as our Budget Advisor, Jenny Muschinske, During our meetings we have discussed funding, the fiscal year 2015 budget, as well as new funding avenues for the GSG to consider. Although a small group, the Finance Committee has been meeting weekly to review funding applications and review potential policy revisions. The Committee has also been tasked with constructing a spending report to enforce previously enacted policies. Lastly, I have continued to craft the fiscal year 2015 budget for the Senate’s consideration. I have been working with Miss Muschinske to give more depth to the report’s financials. Further, I have been speaking to administrators in CSI about their plans to expand leadership and student development initiatives to the graduate community. I still plan to have the budget submitted to the Senate by the last meeting in February, with a vote in early March. In closing, should you have any questions or concerns regarding my report, please do not hesitate to contact me. Respectfully submitted, Jonathan Whitson Vice President of Finance Graduate Student Government 1
