Write an outcome statement for a unit of instruction. Develop a list of knowledge and skills that students must know or be able to do in order to be successful. Create a vision for a final project or assessment. Identify the evidence that you will need in order to determine mastery. Based on the evidence needed, revise your list of skills and knowledge that students need. Sequence your list of knowledge and skills into a logical order for instruction. Determine the number of 50 minute lessons needed (adapt and revise accordingly). Based on the knowledge, skills and evidence lists, the lesson writer writes objectives for each lesson. Steps 1-7 are done as a curricular team or PLC. Teachers then are responsible to determine what their lessons look like.
