ACADEMIC MAJOR:
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
 Student must have completed 12 or more units at MiraCosta College at the time of application, with a 3.0
or greater Grade Point Average (GPA).
 Must be currently enrolled in nine or more units at MiraCosta College and provide proof of enrollment.
 Must be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien.
 Must be involved with student leadership activities on campus and/or completed 25 hours of
volunteer/service learning at a nonprofit or K-12 educational facility that is documented through the
MiraCosta Service Learning and Volunteer Center.
ATTACHMENTS REQUIRED:
 Current copy of your Service Learning timecard.
o If a Service Learning timecard is not available, must attach a letter of recommendation from MiraCosta
leadership faculty or staff, or from the applicant’s service organization.
 Current, unofficial MiraCosta College transcript that includes spring 2016 enrollment
 Personal Statement required.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
The personal statement must be double-spaced, two page maximum, with your name and ID# at the top lefthand side of each page. Essays must be in the order listed below. For assistance with writing the essays,
download the Personal Statement Outline form from the MiraCosta College Scholarship website

Address the following in your personal statement:
 Career and Education Goals, if undecided, state what you hope to gain from the college experience.
 Extracurricular Activities:
 Detail your leadership or volunteer experience you are involved with both on and off campus.
 California Coast Credit Union, like all credit unions, was founded on the principle of people helping
people. Please tell us about an experience where you used your time and talents to help an individual,
a group, or the community.
 Other Information you would like to share about yourself. State your financial need, and how a
scholarship will help you.

 Two $500 scholarships will be awarded for the Spring semester.
 Winners will be notified at the Service Learning Celebration of Service event in May.

By submitting this application I certify that the answers I have given and the material I submitted are true and
correct, and I hereby authorize the release of this information to faculty, staff, and donor.
If awarded a scholarship, California Coast Credit Union and MiraCosta College may release my name for
recognition and/or to the local press.
