Leadership team discussion before Announcements
Dr. Lupi extended a thank you to all that attended the American Graduate Dinner on September 23.
Dr. O’Farrell and Dr. Kane will be working together on the agreement forms for field experiences outside of Field and
Internship; this will also include sport management interns. Dr. Kane will also work with Dr. Bennett on screening
students doing hours in private schools that are not employees.
Dr. O’Farrell has an upcoming meeting with all the intern coordinators across campus to discuss compliance affiliation
issues, waivers, and risk management prospective. There is an upcoming webinar in October to look at some changes to
ensure everyone is in compliance. From a liability prospective every student doing field experience or required to be in
a school needs an affiliation agreement in place. Dr. Lupi will include this in her dean’s report during the next faculty
assembly.
Friday, September 19th was the deadline for spring 2015 intern applications. Dr. O’Farrell provided a handout to the CLT
showing a breakdown by major, department, and district.
Dr. Kane met with Chad Learch, Director of Orientation. Chad would like to know student interest areas to have the
student meet with a faculty member to talk about careers associated with the major (research, community based
learning, study abroad etc.) during orientation.
Dr. Lupi talked about the possibility of summer meet and greets with new incoming freshman students; start thinking
about different ways to bring students into the wonderful world of teaching.
This discussion needs to continue and to include the trend data in the strategic plans.
Announcements
Dr. Kantner asked Dr. Kane and Dr. Lupi to identify a potential IRB member. Dr. Cornett will ask Bess Wilson. Dr.
Seabrooks-Blackmore is already on the committee.
The FBI has upgraded the fingerprinting process/clearances. As a result, student placements have been slower.
Dr. Godwyll has responded to the report submitted internally regarding the Doctoral Program self-study. Dr. Godwyll will
give an update soon.
John Kemppainen reported on the State of Florida DOE articulation and access. Schools are not accepting the nonacceptance of transfer credits if they don’t meet the critical tasks and FEAPS. UNF may be mandated to accept these
courses at the upper level if they have the same prefix. Dr. Lupi will bring this up with FACTE and Dr. Lupi will get this
subject on the agenda for the SUS dean’s meeting.
Strategic Plans
The CLT gave an update on their strategic plan processes.
Search Updates – Dr. Lupi
Four of the searches have been approved. The Deaf Ed search will be submitted today. Kolanda Douglas will attend a
department search committee meeting. Dr. Patterson will share the dates and times to the departments.
Streamlining Data – M. Possinger
Megan is exploring whether we can use TracDat as a single central portal for the reporting of accreditation information.
The goal of this would be to streamline the reporting process so faculty can complete their ALCs, GALCs and FLDOE
accreditation requirements simultaneously. Whether student-level data for FLDOE can be tracked in TracDat remains to
be seen.
There was also discussion regarding the ALC process and it was suggested for Megan to meet with Sam Kimball. Dr.
Cornett will help facilitate a meeting time.
After Megan attends the accreditation conferences, she will provide everything that will need to be documented.
Professor in Residence applications and meet and greet (Dr. Kane)
Dr. Kane reported 0 applications have been submitted to date. The next step will be a meet and greet discussion during
Friday, October 3rd Faculty Assembly. Dr. Rose will also be on the agenda during the announcement section to give an
update on the work she is doing.
If faculty would like to learn more about New Town Success Zone, please contact Dr. Chris Janson. Dr. Janson and Dr.
Cohen have been working together on community walks.
Dr. Kane also shared that (3) $400 student travel scholarships have been awarded.
Meeting adjourned at 10:55am
